NBA - October 24th Starting 5
The NBA season is finally here! We have such an exciting season up ahead and plenty of opportunities to win some money! There are four key things I look for in a player to have the highest probability of being optimal!
Price
Opponent DvP
Minutes
Usage
These four statistics paired together are the best suitors to find a gem. Almost everyone I mention below hits on atleast 2 of these if not all of them! Hopefully this will help you be more successful while building lineups and give you a higher chance of winning the big bucks!
I would also like to note that I write these articles early in the day. It is always beneficial to check @Underdog__NBA for lineup changes. Those changes could have a direct effect on some of my "favorite plays" in the sense that if a cheap guy that was one of my favorites doesn't start, then they might no longer be a favorite play or even a play at all. Check out my Twitter @HeatingUpDFS or join the Discord for any updates on favorite play changes!

PG: Chris Paul ($5,600)
Paul as a starting PG for a team that can hit 3’s at an absurd rate and projected 30 minutes with solid usage is too cheap. He should see a solid AST rate and the thin guard depth from a quality perspective for the Warriors should keep him on the court. It is a revenge spot for him and I don’t see Beal or Booker giving him any issues on defense. Lock and load on Paul tonight.
Other PGs in Play:
High: Devin Booker ($8,300)
Mid: Jamal Murray ($7,500)
Cheap: Gabe Vincent ($4,500) and Jordan Goodwin ($3,300)
SG: Christian Braun ($4,400)
This is definitely a GPP play. Braun should come and fill the Bruce Brown role for the Nuggets this season. That is a high FPPM type of role as long as Braun can get the rebounding. He really came onto the scene in the playoffs last year and hopefully he can carry that into the new season. The Lakers bench is pretty thin at his position so he will have a good matchup while he is out there. Factoring in the injury concern for MPJ who was held out for the entire preseason could me he gets limited run, allowing Braun to get more minutes.
Other SGs in Play:
High: Stephen Curry ($9,200) and Devin Booker ($8,300)
Mid: Austin Reaves ($6,100) and Grayson Allen ($4,900)
Cheap: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($4,800) and Eric Gordon ($4,300)
SF: LeBron James ($9,300)
The SF position is very weak tonight, but has a few guys that are cheap getting a lot of ownership. Not that they are unplayable, but I would rather get the easy 40+ DK points and just take LeBron. Age is just a number for him. He has shown no signs of regressing and finished last season with a 40/10/9 performance against the same team they are playing tonight. Even with all of the other studs tonight, I think James can be one of the better values.
Other SFs in Play:
High: N/A
Mid: N/A
Cheap: Josh Okogie ($4,000)
PF: Dario Saric ($3,400)
Another GPP play coming. Draymond is out tonight which opens up about 30-33 minutes that the already thin GSW front court has to fill. A lot of the field will be playing Looney, but I might just opt to go all the way down to Saric who probably has to play 20ish minutes by default. He was close to a 1 FPPM type of guy last year and should be able to replicate that this season. Under $4,000 is too cheap for a guy getting the minutes he should tonight.
Other PFs in Play:
High: Kevin Durant ($8,300)
Mid: Aaron Gordon ($5,700) and Rui Hachimura ($5,100)
Cheap: Jonathan Kuminga ($4,600) and Taurean Prince ($3,500)
C: Nikola Jokic ($10,000)
In the 4-0 sweep of the Lakers last season, Jokic had 70+ DK points in 3/4 of those games with a high of 88 DK points. Why is he this cheap? He has the highest ceiling on the slate and regardless of the fact that he might hate basketball and rather be riding horses, he still should ball. The only concern for him early in the season is always his conditioning, but when he is dropping 25/14/8 in the preseason on just 28 minutes of action, you have to expect he is fine.
Other Cs in Play:
High: Anthony Davis ($8,900)
Mid: Jusuf Nurkic ($6,300) and Kevon Looney ($5,300)
Cheap: N/A
