NBA - November 3rd Starting 5

The NBA season is finally here! We have such an exciting season up ahead and plenty of opportunities to win some money! There are four key things I look for in a player to have the highest probability of being optimal!

  1. Price

  2. Opponent DvP

  3. Minutes

  4. Usage

These four statistics paired together are the best suitors to find a gem. Almost everyone I mention below hits on atleast 2 of these if not all of them! Hopefully this will help you be more successful while building lineups and give you a higher chance of winning the big bucks!

I would also like to note that I write these articles early in the day. It is always beneficial to check @Underdog__NBA for lineup changes. Those changes could have a direct effect on some of my "favorite plays" in the sense that if a cheap guy that was one of my favorites doesn't start, then they might no longer be a favorite play or even a play at all. Below are some of the slate dynamics involved during the writing of this article. The entire slate could possibly change between the time I finish writing this and lock, so be sure to join the discord for any updates!

  • Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen are ACTIVE

  • Spencer Dinwiddie is ACTIVE

  • Kyrie Irving is ACTIVE

  • Tyrese Haliburton is ACTIVE

  • Daniel Gafford is OUT

PG: Josh Giddey ($8,400)

When Shai is out, Giddey gets a massive usage bump. Shai is out tonight so we should see Giddey assume a big role, play about 35 minutes and produce at a high FPPM level. He has been trending lately with back to back 35+ DK point games and we could see him hit close to a triple double tonight in this spot. GS is vulnerable at the PG position which just adds to Giddey’s ceiling possibility. I just think this is a great floor spot for Giddey who can easily produce 40+ DK points and if he can be efficient there is a real chance at a triple double with his rebound and assist upside.

Other PGs in Play:

High: Desmond Bane ($8,800)

Mid: Dennis Schroder ($6,800)

Cheap: N/A

SG: Malcolm Brogdon ($6,500)

There is no Scoot or Anfernee tonight so there are plenty of guard minutes to go around and I mean PLENTY. I don’t see a way he doesn’t see 30+ minutes if not close to 40 and he is a high FPPM type of player as is. He will handle the ball a ton and in this matchup against Memphis which is a massive pace up spot I see no reason he can’t crush value. The usage will probably stay around the same due to the fact that his usage was always high with the bench unit. The big difference is volume. He will be asked to carry the offense and around more efficient guys with the starters.

Other SGs in Play:

High: Zach Lavine ($7,400)

Mid: Marcus Smart ($6,800)

Cheap: N/A

SF: Shaedon Sharpe ($7,300)

Without Scoot and Anfernee, Sharpe has assumed the #1 role on this team. Last game with Scoot playing a majority of the time he had 29/7/5 and 51 DK points. He saw a small price bump but nothing crazy. This is a big pace up spot for Portland and even in a bad matchup, the volume and usage should be high enough for him to overcome those concerns. He just has a massive ceiling with Portland down so many guys that I don’t think you can pass it up and the SG/SF availability makes it easy to get him into your lineups.

Other SFs in Play:

High: N/A

Mid: DeMar DeRozan ($7,300) or Ben Simmons ($7,000)

Cheap: Ziaire Williams ($4,600) or Bilal Coulibaly ($4,100)

PF: Chet Holmgren ($7,600)

I think this is the spot that he finally smashes without Shai in a high pace environment. He has been having spike games as of late with 42 and 53 DK point performances. I think with GS getting a ton of 3s up that the rebounding opportunities will be there and when they attack the basket he will have block opportunities. There is a lot of usage to go around with Shai out and even though Giddey will get a good amount of that, he is more of a facilitator. The usage will go to Chet more which raises his ceiling. He is in such a good spot tonight.

Other PFs in Play:

High: Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,800) or Kyle Kuzma ($7,800)

Mid: Jalen Williams ($6,500)

Cheap: Dario Saric ($4,200) or Toumani Camara ($3,700)

C: Bam Adebayo ($8,300)

This is more of a GPP play because I think there are other C plays on the slate getting more attention. His price is a tick high for the inconsistencies he has had this season. However, with likely no Gafford once again tonight in Washington, I see no reason Bam can’t destroy this Washington front court currently being led by either Kuzma at the C spot or Muscala who is dust. Bam is coming off of a 50 DK point game in a similar situation against BKN who was running Ben at the C spot. This does have some bust potential based on his price, but he is definitely in a ceiling spot and is likely a lock for a double double. Targeting C’s against WAS has been pretty successful so far and Bam is one of the best.

Other Cs in Play:

High: Nikola Jokic ($12,000)

Mid: DeAndre Ayton ($6,600) or Nikola Vucevic ($7,500)

Cheap: Kevin Love ($4,300)
