NBA February 9th Starting Five

The NBA season has been here, but today it is now December which means it's CHRISTMAS TIME! We have such an exciting season up ahead and plenty of opportunities to win some money! There are four key things I look for in a player to have the highest probability of being optimal!
1. Price
2. Opponent DvP
3. Recent Minutes/Rotation Time
4. Usage Rate
These four statistics paired together are the best suitors to find a gem. Almost everyone I mention below hits on atleast 2 of these if not all of them! Hopefully this will help you be more successful while building lineups and give you a higher chance of winning the big bucks!
I would also like to note that I write these articles early in the day. It is always beneficial to check @FantasyLabsNBA for lineup changes. Those changes could have a direct effect on some of my "favorite plays" in the sense that if a cheap guy that was one of my favorites doesn't start, then they might no longer be a favorite play or even a play at all. Check out my Twitter @HeatingUpDFS for any updates on favorite play changes!

PG: Donovan Mitchell ($8,600)

We were able to hit on Mitchell the other night and in a game against Golden State tonight I am going back to the well. Utah will need scoring to keep up tonight and with Klay sidelined, I am confident the defensive matchup for Mitchell will be quite easy. GS runs at a top 10 pace so this is a pace up spot for Utah, the game itself has a healthy implied total and close spread, and Mitchell is coming off of a 59 DK point performance. Given the expected minutes and usage I don't see an avenue for Mitchell to fail here. If he was around the $10,000 range then I could see a reason to not go for him, but at this discount I really like him tonight.
High: Dejounte Murray ($10,600)
Mid: De'Aaron Fox ($7,700) or Anfernee Simons ($7,300)
Low: Coby White ($5,100)

SG: CJ Elleby ($4,400)

With almost all of the Blazers either traded or out, Elleby is getting big minutes, usage and production. He scored 32 DK points last game in 34 minutes with a lot of peripherals, so he is going to be involved in multiple facets of the game. I think the price is still quite low for the upside and the role isn't going to change. In a game against the Lakers who just gave up 131 points to the Bucks last night, I hope the Blazers can produce even more tonight compared to their 95 points last night. Role out Elleby with confidence once again.
High: N/A
Mid: D'Angelo Russell ($7,000) or Jordan Poole ($5,800)
Low: Matt Thomas ($3,000) or Jahmi'us Ramsey ($3,000)

SF: Kelly Oubre ($5,600)

Without Hayward and Martin, I can't envision a scenario where Oubre doesn't get 30-35 minutes of run and high usage. He has scored 30+ DK points in 4 of the last 5 games and tonight's game has the highest implied total by a mile. I think the only concern I have is that Javonte Green is a very solid defender who might be tasked with dealing with Oubre for a decent part of the game. I don't think that matters all that much so following the usage and implied role is what I am going to look at for Oubre. His price is also still quite low for how he has been playing. He checks just about every box you could want for a player, so roll him out with confidence.
High: Lebron James ($10,800)
Mid: Andrew Wiggins ($6,300) or Luke Dort ($6,200)
Low: Javonte Green ($4,400) or Ben McLemore ($4,300)

PF: Justise Winslow ($4,500)

This was a tough decision between Winslow and Metu, but I have to side with Winslow just because the usage and role tonight should be just slightly higher. He had a 20% usage rate compared to Metu's 14% last night and outscored him by just a few points. I think the argument for Metu is the implied total for his game is a good bit higher and both teams have a very high pace. I really think you are splitting hairs with these two and the final nod to Winslow might come if Metu either doesn't start or Holmes plays. That would limit his time and in comparison to Winslow who is a lock for around 30-35 minutes.
High: DeMar DeRozan ($9,600) or Pascal Siakam ($9,400)
Mid: Kevin Love ($7,100) or Darius Bazley ($5,600)
Low: Kenrich Williams ($4,400) or Chimezie Metu ($4,200)

C: Nikola Vucevic ($9,500)

I am pretty much fine going with any C against Charlotte and that is what we have with Vuc here. He has 57+ DK points against CHA in 3 of the last 4 games, so we know their is a ceiling spot here. I am not really concerned about his cold streak over the last two games when before that he scored 70 and 64 DK points. With how many cheap C options there are tonight, I think Vuc could come in under owned and be good leverage off of Davis, Towns or Siakam. The spot is just set up for him to smash.
High: Karl Anthony Towns ($9,700) or Anthony Davis ($10,100)
Mid: Jusuf Nurkic ($8,200)
Low: Damion Jones ($3,700) or Udoka Azubuike ($4,000)
Thanks for reading, best of luck, and I hope you enjoy the holidays!
