NBA December 9th Starting Five

The NBA season has been here, but today it is now December which means it's CHRISTMAS TIME! We have such an exciting season up ahead and plenty of opportunities to win some money! There are four key things I look for in a player to have the highest probability of being optimal!
1. Price
2. Opponent DvP
3. Recent Minutes/Rotation Time
4. Usage Rate
These four statistics paired together are the best suitors to find a gem. Almost everyone I mention below hits on atleast 2 of these if not all of them! Hopefully this will help you be more successful while building lineups and give you a higher chance of winning the big bucks!
I would also like to note that I write these articles early in the day. It is always beneficial to check @FantasyLabsNBA for lineup changes. Those changes could have a direct effect on some of my "favorite plays" in the sense that if a cheap guy that was one of my favorites doesn't start, then they might no longer be a favorite play or even a play at all. Check out my Twitter @HeatingUpDFS for any updates on favorite play changes!

PG: Derrick White ($6,300)

White is riding hot right now, scoring 33+ DK points in 5 of the last 6 games. There are only 3 games tonight, so you really have to take what you can get and I think White provides a solid floor as well as a decent ceiling if the game goes how it should. I think defensively, teams are starting to make Dejounte their chief focus, leaving White open for more efficient looks and allowing him to handle the ball more. This in turn has allowed his usage rate to increase from around 18% to closer to 24% over the last couple of games. If that can keep up as well as the minutes stay steady in the 30+ range, then the floor for White should hold and you still have that ceiling opportunity as well. You gotta take what you can get tonight and I think White can bring solid value once again.
High: N/A
Mid: Tyus Jones ($6,000)
Low: De'Anthony Melton ($4,600)

SG: Donovan Mitchell ($8,800)

Right back to the well with Mitchell for me. He continued his strong run of play like I expect last night with a 48 DK point performance which makes it five straight games with 45+ DK points for Mitchell. Tonight he gets to go up against Sixers and Seth Curry specifically who is not a good defender. With Gobert tied up in a tougher matchup against Embiid, Mitchell will likely dominate usage once again and be the primary ball handler on most possessions. At under $9,000, Mitchell seems like a steal right now.
High: N/A
Mid: Desmond Bane ($6,900) or Will Barton ($6,800)
Low: Seth Curry ($5,600) or Jordan Clarkson ($4,900)

SF: Dillon Brooks ($6,200)

Brooks has been quite hot or cold lately, but I think this matchup is built for him to succeed in. It has the highest implied total on the slate and he gets to go up against Lebron who has not exactly cared about playing defense this season. He will also get some run at SG which would be against either Monk or Ellington who also don't play any defense. He got ejected last night, so I think he will be playing with some fire mad from having to leave the game and if the Grizzles want to win, he is going to have to be the one do that. This is a risky play for sure, but I think he has a ceiling game in him and it could certainly happen tonight.
High: N/A
Mid: N/A
Low: Doug McDermott ($4,300) or Danny Green ($3,300)

PF: Royce O'Neale ($4,300)

PF kind of sucks tonight outside of Davis who is also more than in play tonight, so I am going to go with the safe play. Royce is quietly putting up some solid stat lines lately and has scored 24+ DK points in 4 of the last 5 games. His price hasn't really moved either, so there he would have to really perform poorly to hurt you. It isn't the easiest matchup against Tobias Harris, but he has been a bit banged up lately so I don't think he will be playing the best defense. I just think Royce has a solid floor and can still go for 30+ DK points so there is very little risk here.
High: Anthony Davis ($10,000)
Mid: Jeff Green ($4,800)
Low: Rudy Gay ($3,900)

C: Nikola Jokic ($11,800)

On a three game slate, it is almost crucial that you play the highest scoring player and I would find it hard to believe that Jokic isn't that guy tonight. He has 70+ DK point upside and of the studs has the best matchup for the most part. He has scored 55+ DK points in 6 of the last 7 games and is being asked to do just about everything for this team. Back to back triple doubles and can definitely do it again here. I think what confirms it for me is that he has scored 67 and 70 DK points in his last two against SAS. I would strongly advise to build around Jokic tonight just based on his ceiling alone.
High: Rudy Gobert ($8,400)
Mid: Steven Adams ($5,100)
Low: Thad Young ($3,300)
Thanks for reading, best of luck, and I hope you enjoy the holidays!
