NBA December 2nd Starting Five

The NBA season has been here, but today it is now December which means it's CHRISTMAS TIME! We have such an exciting season up ahead and plenty of opportunities to win some money! There are four key things I look for in a player to have the highest probability of being optimal!
1. Price
2. Opponent DvP
3. Recent Minutes/Rotation Time
4. Usage Rate
These four statistics paired together are the best suitors to find a gem. Almost everyone I mention below hits on atleast 2 of these if not all of them! Hopefully this will help you be more successful while building lineups and give you a higher chance of winning the big bucks!
I would also like to note that I write these articles early in the day. It is always beneficial to check @FantasyLabsNBA for lineup changes. Those changes could have a direct effect on some of my "favorite plays" in the sense that if a cheap guy that was one of my favorites doesn't start, then they might no longer be a favorite play or even a play at all. Check out my Twitter @HeatingUpDFS for any updates on favorite play changes!

PG: Chris Paul ($8,600)

With no Booker tonight, we should see Paul pick up right where he left off last game with elite usage and big minutes. He scored 50 DK points last game after Booker left early and against Detroit while also boasting the 3rd highest team total on the slate, I think he is in to repeat. On such a short slate, you have to take what you can get and Paul seems almost like a free square with his ceiling being so high. There are quite a few Suns in great positions, so don't be afraid to load up on them today.
High: Dejounte Murray ($9,800)
Mid: Derrick Rose ($4,800) or Alex Caruso ($5,200)
Low: Tre Mann ($3,600)

SG: Anfernee Simons ($4,900)

Simons is almost a lock for 30+ minutes and solid usage tonight with no Dame and and easier matchup against Derrick White. You could and should see CJ McCollum be defended by Dejounte Murray who is an elite defender, opening things up for Simons to get a usage bump just from last game. He scored 29 DK points in that one and has scored 30+ DK points in 2 of the last 3. While ownership will likely be all over him tonight, I am more than willing to take a stab on him with his boom potential being well within reach.
High: CJ McCollum ($8,500)
Mid: Derrick White ($6,300)
Low: Grayson Allen ($4,500)

SF: Alec Burks ($6,500)

Tom Thibs has come out and said Burks will continue to start at PG going forward with Kemba out of the rotation. If that is going to be the case, then Burks should have nearly a 40 DK point floor which at this price is something you can't pass up. He has scored 46 and 40 DK points in the last two games and has 39 minutes in each. Not only that, but his last two games has been his highest usage games of the season, touching 27% in both. Chicago has had the 8th worst PG DvP in the league over the last two weeks, so until they remove Burks' PG eligibility on DK, just keep jamming him in.
High: Scottie Barnes ($7,500) or Khris Middleton ($7,200)
Mid: Luke Dort ($5,700)
Low: Cameron Johnson ($4,200)

PF: Jaren Jackson Jr. ($7,100)

JJJ is the perfect GPP play tonight against the league's worst PF defense. He scored 45 DK points last game and I actually think he can beat that total today. OKC is inept at defending bigs and unless JJJ gets into foul trouble, he should get atleast 32 minute of time in the paint. He has scored 40+ DK points in 2 of the last 3 games against OKC and without Ja playing, they are going to try to get him the ball more. What's even crazier is he scored those 45 DK points on lower than normal usage. If he can get that back up to even his season average, the sky is the limit for him.
High: Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,000)
Mid: Keldon Johnson ($5,700)
Low: Jeremiah Robinson-Earl ($4,400)

C: DeAndre Ayton ($7,600)

Ayton is #2 in the pecking order to get an increase in usage without Booker and his price isn't fully reflective of his ceiling. He scored 48 DK points in his last game without him and against Detroit who isn't anything special against bigs. Last game he put up his 2nd highest usage on the season at nearly 29%. If that can continue here then he should be a lock for atleast 6x value once again. You have to take that on a small slate.
High: Nikola Vucevic ($9,300)
Mid: Jakob Poeltl ($6,100)
Low: Isaiah Stewart ($5,000)
Thanks for reading, best of luck, and I hope you enjoy the holidays!
