NBA - November 10th Starting 5

The NBA season is finally here! We have such an exciting season up ahead and plenty of opportunities to win some money! There are four key things I look for in a player to have the highest probability of being optimal!

  1. Price

  2. Opponent DvP

  3. Minutes

  4. Usage

These four statistics paired together are the best suitors to find a gem. Almost everyone I mention below hits on atleast 2 of these if not all of them! Hopefully this will help you be more successful while building lineups and give you a higher chance of winning the big bucks!

I would also like to note that I write these articles early in the day. It is always beneficial to check @Underdog__NBA for lineup changes. Those changes could have a direct effect on some of my "favorite plays" in the sense that if a cheap guy that was one of my favorites doesn't start, then they might no longer be a favorite play or even a play at all. Slate Starters

Below are some of the slate dynamics involved during the writing of this article. The entire slate could possibly change between the time I finish writing this and lock, so be sure to join the discord for any updates!

  • Anthony Davis is OUT

  • Keyonte George STARTS again

  • Gordon Hayward is ACTIVE

  • Zion Williamson is ACTIVE

  • Herbert Jones is ACTIVE

PG: LaMelo Ball ($10,000)

I think the floor with Rozier out is legit 50 DK points and there is room for him to break the slate and hit 70+. His usage rate last week eclipsed 35% which is insane and he has the same matchup again tonight. This is the high paced game with both teams in the top 4 for pace. On top of that, both of the teams are in the bottom 4 for team defense. This is the perfect matchup for both teams to explode from a DFS perspective and LaMelo is the one with the highest ceiling.

Other PGs in Play:

High: Tyrese Maxey ($8,100)

Mid: Killian Hayes ($5,400)

Cheap: Keyonte George ($4,700)

SG: Anthony Edwards ($9,000)

This is a big pace up spot for Edwards against the team with the 2nd worst defensive efficiency in the league. He has been playing great this week with 3 straight 50+ DK point games. I just think he is a touch too cheap for his ceiling and the spot he is in. He has one of the highest usage rates in the league because the ball is in his hands on nearly every possession. He checks every box tonight.

Other SGs in Play:

High: Desmond Bane ($8,500)

Mid: Derrick White ($5,700) or D’Angelo Russell ($6,500)

Cheap: Luke Kennard ($4,300)

SF: Royce O’Neale ($5,600)

While he might not have the highest usage rate, with Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton both out, the Nets are opting to go to a small ball lineup with Royce at the C. It bumps up his rebound % immensely so all he needs to do is hit a couple shots and he is in line for a possible double double. He plays massive minutes and has 27+ DK points in 4 of the last 5 games with multiple over 30 DK points. He is the perfect mid range value play that should have a solid floor and decent ceiling regardless of the tough matchup against Boston.

Other SFs in Play:

High: Lebron James ($9,600)

Mid: Gordon Hayward ($7,100)

Cheap: Tari Eason ($3,800)

PF: Rui Hachimura ($4,600)

With Davis out, someone has to assume a lot of the C minutes on this team. Rui played a massive role last game with 44 DK points in just mid 20s minutes. I really don’t think he does that again here, but I see no reason he can’t have another big game and is priced affordably for his role. I don’t think Christian Wood is any good which might feed into Rui getting more minutes and if this game stays close (last game was a blowout and he didn’t close for the final 8 minutes of the game) he should get even more run. This is just a really good spot for him again to be great value.

Other PFs in Play:

High: Kyle Kuzma ($8,000)

Mid: Tobias Harris ($6,500)

Cheap: Santi Aldama ($4,800)

C: Domantas Sabonis ($9,900)

With no De’Aaron Fox, this Kings offense runs almost exclusively through Sabonis which just raises his floor and ceiling. There is no reason he should be under $10,000 in this spot. The Kings are in the biggest pace up spot on the slate with OKC playing at the 3rd fastest pace in the league (Sacramento is dead last). He put up 57 DK points last game with only a 21% usage rate which is low for his standards. If you can take his minutes (he should see around 38 minutes) and get back to his normal usage rate of around 25%, the sky is legit the limit.

Other Cs in Play:

High: Jaren Jackson Jr. ($8,300)

Mid: Jusuf Nurkic ($6,900)

Cheap: Bismack Biyombo ($4,900) or Day’Ron Sharpe ($4,300)
